HomeAway have created a directory dedicated to rentals available for survivors of Hurricane Sandy looking for short-term housing.
HomeAway said that it has organized a directory of vacation homes available for rent to those in need of housing due to the devastation caused by Superstorm Sandy.
HomeAway said that customers with properties located on the eastern seaboard listed on U.S. vacation rental sites HomeAway.com, VRBO.com and VacationRentals.com as well as innkeepers on BedandBreakfast.com have volunteered to offer their rentals to evacuees.
Fully furnished homes are available for short- and long-term stays.
Individuals must contact managers of the properties directly.
Owners and property managers may also use the HomeAway Community site to connect with each other to discuss the latest news on the storm and share advice and resources.
This announcement, coupled with Airbnb’s waving of fees for Hurricane Sandy’s victims, proves, if nothing else, that there is a visible necessity for short-term rentals aside from providing alternative lodging to vacationers.
